I have a long track record of mentoring and coaching colleagues, from all vocational backgrounds, to develop successful leadership skills. Throughout my career I have also led many large-scale complex projects and fully understand the challenges that face leaders whilst perceived barriers are in abundance.
I have navigated the hierarchy of academic life, and other highly challenging environments, and know what it takes to be successful.
I have managed to combine a rewarding and successful career with a happy family life and have always felt privileged to do a job that I have loved and enjoyed so much. My goal now is to support others to achieve the same.
"Choosing someone you can work with on progressing your career is an important decision. I’d like to convince you that making the first step to talk to Marion to see if things will ‘fit’ is well worth doing. It’s exactly what I did 13 years ago. Back then it was a coffee and a chat, which led to helping shape a new role for me and to 12 happy years working together. What impresses me most about Marion is her positivity. It’s so easy to get bogged down in the complexity of work with all its challenges and disappointment. Marion showed me that I could shape my career to focus on the good stuff and play to my strengths.
There’s also an approachability and kindness about Marion that sadly isn’t the norm in senior academics. Don’t be fooled by that though – it’s not all cosy chats. Marion will challenge you to face up to reality and help you develop a keen sense for strategy and purpose.
One of the many things I’ve learnt by working with Marion is not to be put off by other people’s behaviour. There are many reasons why doors remain closed. I’ve learnt to have confidence in my own ability and that persistence is key. With Marion’s support and enthusiasm, I’ve definitely maximised on the opportunities that eventually came my way. As Marion would say, Life is good!"
